SPHS Free and Reduced-Price Meal Information

Beginning on Monday, December 3, 2018, the South Park High School cafeteria will modify its procedures for students who qualify for free/reduced-price meals to ensure our students are receiving, full nutritious meals every day.

Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals will now receive a credit for a blue-and-white breakfast and a blue-and-white lunch every day. Previously, these students were receiving either a $4.20 or $3.50 daily cafeteria credit. Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals will receive a blue-and-white breakfast and a blue-and-white lunch, paid by the district, at no cost. A blue-and-white breakfast includes the day’s blue-and-white entrée, and a choice of milk, fruit, and/or juice. A blue-and-white lunch includes the day’s blue-and-white entrée, fruit, vegetable, and/or milk.

If a student chooses a non–blue-and-white meal or any additional items, including snacks and drinks not included in the blue-and-white meal, the student will be responsible for paying the full price for those items. These items will not be covered by the blue-and-white meal credits. Any student who has an account with negative $10.00 or more will only be allowed to choose the blue and white meal. They will not be permitted to purchase a la carte items.

The high school cafeteria is making this change so that our students are benefiting from the nutritious meals we offer every day and not using their credits for only snacks.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Brandon Smoker at brandon.smoker@sparksd.org or (412) 655-3111, extension 2930. If your child has questions about this change, please encourage them to speak with a cafeteria employee.
