This is the image for the news article titled New Ways to Stay ConnectedThis year, the South Park School District will introduce new ways for parents and guardians to stay connected with their children’s academic progress. We’ll provide additional, more specific information about each of these new platforms over the next two weeks. Now, we just want to introduce them to our families.

PowerSchool Parent Portal

Replaces Home Access Center and the eSchoolPLUS Family App.

Available for all K-12 families, including those enrolled in the South Park Cyber Academy.

Provides parents/guardians with real-time access to attendance, grades, schedules, homeroom assignments and other information. Report cards will now be available through PowerSchool.

Students will also receive a PowerSchool portal account.

However, parents/guardians will have access to more information.

Parents/guardians can receive email alerts through the Parent Portal for grades and attendance.

Parents/guardians will receive instructions on how to create their own accounts via email very soon with a unique Access ID and Access Password for each child. Access IDs and Access Passwords allow you to link your children to your Parent Portal account. More than one child can be linked to a single parent/guardian account.

Each parent/guardian is encouraged to have his/her own account.

A mobile app is available. However, you must create your account and link your children through the desktop version of PowerSchool first. Instructions for downloading the Parent Portal mobile app will be also be shared with families.

Canvas Parent App

Canvas replaces Google Classroom. Available for all K-12 students enrolled in the Flex Learning Track (current hybrid model) and K-8 students enrolled in the South Park Cyber Academy.

Parent App available via desktop or mobile devices. Desktop version has additional features.

Allows parents/guardians to engage in their children’s education by providing access to a list of children’s courses, general class information, assignments and events.

Parents/guardians can receive alerts about announcements, class assignments and events and monitor their children’s progress on assignments. Report cards will be posted in PowerSchool.

Parents/guardians cannot submit assignments, access specific course content or participate in the course.

Step-by-step instructions on how to set up a Parent App account with a unique student linking code will be shared at the start of the year. It is recommended you create your account on a desktop computer.
