SPMS 5th Grade Transition and New Student Orientation Day
At SPMS, there will be a parent information session with SPMS administrators and counselors on Monday, August 12 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the middle school LGI room. Please note that this is an adult-only session. Due to seating limitations, SPMS is asking that only one family representative attend per student. Hard copies of student schedules will be handed out during the session and the digital presentation link will be shared with all families afterward (even if they are not in attendance that night).
The following day, Tuesday, August 13, is the SPMS move-up day for all incoming 5th graders and families, as well as any other new student to the district. There will be a morning session from 9 - 11 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12 - 2 p.m. Schedules will be distributed to those 5th grade families who could not attend the evening event, and this will be an opportunity for self-guided navigation of the middle school building. Those who attend the information session on Monday evening will have schedules in hand and will not have to wait in line to receive them during this event. SPMS student council volunteers will be available to assist with directions, and administrators and counselors will be available to answer questions as needed.
Please contact the middle school office with any questions at 412-655-3111 x3000.
SPHS 9th Grade Transition and New Student Orientation Day
SPHS will welcome new students on Monday, August 19 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
All students who attend will receive their schedules as they arrive and families will embark on self-guided tours of the school. Principal Mr. Dellarose, assistant principal Mr. Marvin and SPHS student council members will be present should you need assistance. Rising ninth graders who attended move-up day this past May are also welcome to attend to practice reading their schedule and locating their classrooms.
Please contact the high school office with any questions at 412-655-3111 x2000.
First Day of School Reminder
As previously communicated, the South Park School District provided two calendar options for the 2024-2025 school year due to the Building Futures renovation project at our elementary center. This project will add extra classroom space and provide numerous opportunities for our youngest learners. As of July 25, the project is on schedule, and the district plans to use Calendar A, with the first day of school scheduled for August 27. While the district remains optimistic about meeting the target date, unforeseen circumstances or unpredictable situations could arise, potentially requiring last-minute adjustments to the calendar. The district will keep the community informed of any developments that may cause delays. This will be done via email, social media posts and posts to the district website, www.sparksd.org. South Park School District once again would like to thank families and community members for your continued patience, support, and understanding as we work together to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.
For more back-to-school information, continue to visit the district website at www.sparksd.org. It will be updated consistently leading up to the first day of school.
