Due to the potential for significant icing and the Winter Storm Warning in effect for Allegheny County throughout the day, the South Park School District will transition to remote learning on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Remote learning will take place on each school’s two-hour delay schedule. No transportation will be provided by the South Park School District to parochial, private, charter or special education schools on February 3, 2022.

While rain is forecasted for the early portion of the day, a transition to freezing rain and sleet later in the day would make travel hazardous. We cannot and will not risk a situation in which we are unable to safely transport our students home tomorrow. With the safety of our students, faculty and staff as our top priority, the district has decided to temporarily transition to remote learning on February 3.

On a remote learning day, students will not report to school but will participate in synchronous (students and teachers are online at the same time, engaged in instruction and learning) or asynchronous (students complete assignments independently) learning. Teachers will communicate specific remote instruction procedures with their students/families via Canvas and/or email. These instructions will include whether that teacher’s class(es) will be synchronous or asynchronous.

Teachers will be available to answer questions via email and Canvas during the school day.

Students will also be required to complete a virtual attendance form on a remote learning day. Links to all homeroom teachers’ forms can be found by clicking here. High school students must complete the form no earlier than 9 a.m. and no later than 9:30 a.m. Middle school students must complete the form no earlier than 9:30 a.m. and no later than 10 a.m. Elementary center students must complete the form no earlier than 10:30 a.m. and no later than 11 a.m. (Note these times are adjusted from a typical school day or remote learning day due to a 2-hour delay schedule.)
