The information obtained from these assessments serves as a valuable tool for planning future school programs, developing curriculum and identifying meaningful criteria for in-service training of teachers. The individual student reports will yield valuable information to assess the needs of each student so that the most appropriate and challenging educational environment may be provided. Please reassure your child that these assessments will give them an opportunity to demonstrate their learning and will allow us to plan the most appropriate instruction.
Parents may help their children prepare for the assessments by encouraging them to get plenty of sleep the night before each testing date and by providing them with a nutritious breakfast on the morning of the assessment. It is essential for all students to be on time and in attendance for testing. Please avoid scheduling educational trips, medical appointments and/or early dismissals. According to PSSA regulations, if a student leaves during a testing session, he or she is not permitted to go back and complete the unfinished section.
