On Thursday we said farewell, for now, to our foreign exchange student Tom Vandenhoven. Before flying back to his native Belgium, our staff and students took time to sign cards, take photos, and prepare a gift bag that included South Park memorabilia and local Pittsburgh favorites to remember his experience here. In a short amount of time, Tom accomplished so much and called it the best semester of his life! A few highlights include:
Sustained excellence in the classroom
Played for the WPIAL champion boys soccer team
Voted onto the Homecoming Court
Competed on the swim team
Made an indelible impression on his teachers and fellow students
While we expect to remain in touch, Thursday was a wonderful opportunity to reflect. We must say that Tom made just as much of a positive impact on everyone here at South Park. Safe travels back to Belgium!
