SPSD Recognizes Mrs. Cortazzo For School Social Workers Week 2024
School Social Worker Week is March 3-9 and we would like to celebrate Mrs. Jaclyn Cortazzo! Mrs. Cortazzo plays a vital role within the South Park School District community and her expertise benefits students, administrators, teachers, educators, parents, and the community. Here are a few fast facts to get to know Mrs. Cortazzo!
🎓 Mrs. Cortazzo earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Psychology with a minor in Social Work. She obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is also a Licensed Social Worker with a Home and School Visitor certification. In addition, she also earned a School Counseling K-12 certification from Westminster College.
🤝 Mrs. Cortazzo’s immense impact can be felt throughout the district. She teams up with the Special Education Department, Student Assistance Program, ReNew program, Risk Assessment Team, and serves as Homeless Liaison.
⚽ In her free time, you can usually find Mrs. Cortazzo at a nearby gym or field. She enjoys exercising and playing sports with her three boys. Going on her family vacation and dinner with friends are additional favorite activities.
👩🎓 Her favorite aspect of SPSD? That would be working directly with students to help them to find ways to achieve their goals while becoming more insightful about their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. She also loves helping families gain access to the community resources that they need.
👏 She also loves the greater South Park community and how everything feels like family here. Everyone is always there, ready to help you and support you, she said, as well as praise you and cheer you on! It is a community that is cohesive and makes you feel like everyone is on the same team, working toward the same goals together.
THANK YOU for all that you do!
