South Park eighth grader Taylor Nelson is the grand-prize winner of this year’s Junior Scholastic Eyewitness to History contest. Students from across the country participate in the contest in which they are asked to interview someone who witnessed a historic event, submit an 800- to 1,000-word interview in Q&A format and write a paragraph about what they learned from the interview.

Taylor interviewed her mother who was in New York City on September 11, 2001. Taylor’s submission will be published in Junior Scholastic’s April 23 issue.

Taylor is now Mr. Levdansky’s tenth student in the last 18 years to win the national contest.
