Earlier this month, Governor Tom Wolf announced a universal free school breakfast program beginning on October 1, 2022 and lasting through the 2022-2023 school year.

Since all South Park School District schools participate in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program, all South Park students will qualify for free breakfasts beginning on Monday, October 3, 2022. It is important to remember that this newly announced program is for school breakfasts only. Students who do not qualify for free lunches will still need to pay for a lunch in our school cafeterias. We continue to encourage those who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals to complete an application as soon as possible. Additional details can be found on our website by clicking here.

For a student’s breakfast to qualify under the universal free breakfast program, a student must take a fruit and at least two other components of a school breakfast (protein, grain, milk). A la carte breakfast purchases will not be covered under this program, and students will be charged for the a la carte items.

Once again, this free breakfast program will not begin until Monday, October 3, 2022, and students who do not qualify for free lunches will still need to pay for a lunch in our school cafeterias.

We will post October breakfast and lunch menus on our food services website in the coming days.
